I herd cats.

My blog is sadly neglected...I stirred up a dusty cloud of zeros and ones when I opened this page.

On that note, I basically have nothing and everything to say. My mind has been running at full speed ahead lately and although everything seems to be pressed for time, I feel like I'm just loafing around. I don't really know how else to explain it.

In one month and 21 days, I'll be in another country and kinda stuck there for quite some time. Dude.

I keep telling myself that, although my plans are loose and flexible (...living in denial is healthy, right?), everything will workout by the time I'm getting on that plane to leave. I mean, it just has to.....As a result, I've been quite irritable lately...feeling like any setback in my plans, no matter how small the task or annoyance, is directly caused by the wrath of the Gods and/or Fate....not just everyday life. Until recently, I never knew I was so chosen!

Granted, I may be just a little melodramatically self-involved...slightly....but, sewiously...how is it possible that I've been thwarted FOUR times when trying to purchase a wimpy $5 bus pass? One store closed early for a picnic...another closed 6 hours early for an unstated reason...the HEB didn't take debit cards...the Cap. Metro outdated website listed a dealer that didn't actually sell bus passes...or, rather, the dealer has chosen not to inform Cap. Metro that they no longer carry and sell their bus passes. Either way...annoying.

This is just one of countless incidents that I've been telling myself to just "breath out" lately...if I think my annoyances are bad now, I don't even know what is going to happen when my daily routine consists of shooing pigs out of my bathroom or doing malaria self-checks. You know, they have cobras in the Philippines. If you didn't, now you do. I've never, personally, been painfully debilitated by a powerful neurotoxin, but I bet THAT would be annoying.

Quick updates that could definitely be elaborated on if I didn't need sleep:

-This is my last week of work. No more subbing. I don't know if I'm happy or just weird about it. I visited the SPED class yesterday and it was nice to feel welcomed and missed by a group of teenagers that previously expressed much angsty frustration about my presence in their classroom. Psssh....weirdos.

-I'll be in Chicago next week...and then, the next week, I'll be in Massachusetts....and then, the next week, I'll be in Houston...and then, the next week, I'll either be delightfully refreshed or pulling my hair out. I haven't decided yet.

-Tea is the new nighttime coffee. It's also the new pre-coffee morning drink...it's also the beverage of choice for those who want to be more like Baby G and her league of tea-drinking honey-bear worshiping followers (uhhh...I think this would just include me...). Basically, I've enjoyed drinking tea lately and have tried to convince myself that tea could, in fact, replace my coffee addiction....but, it has merely added another form of caffeine into my life thus increasing my addiction.

-Ladyfriend got a new job! Congratulations and good luck with the transition...in the most sensitive way possible, I'm sure that dealing with diseases everyday will top maintaining that five-point smile for the sake of ungrateful shitheads.

There's so much more going on in the world today. I just know it....but, for now, I'm going to tackle the giant task of sleeping and hopefully having more energy/time to sort through it tomorrow. But...we all know how that works out.

Night.

Why I will name all my future pets after stoic celebrities.

Earlier this evening, I was on my way to the laundry room when I passed by one of my neighbors as she walked her dog in the grassy area by the pool. There is nothing particularly special in this...except for that I've seen this neighbor before and I remembered that the name of the little smashed nosed Pug mix was Oprah. As I cruised by, my internal dialogue casually commented, "Oh, look at that...Oprah's taking a shit in the bushes." Strangely, this didn't actually strike me as funny...immediately.

Afterward, Ladyfriend and I decided that all of my future pets should be named, of course with FULL respect, after renowned celebrities. The first two recognitions will go to, none other than, Alex Trebek and Charlton Heston. So, after the two pets are christened, we can hope for ten to fifteen years of comments along the following lines:

1. Awww...it's so cute when Charlton Heston snuggles up to me like that.
2. Um, I'm pretty sure Alex Trebek's balls are dropping.
3. I've been spending all week trying to get Charlton Heston to use the litter box.
4. Alex Trebek is slowly learning to stop peeing on the couch; He's getting better at scratching the door when he needs to go out.
5. I think Charlton Heston has the mange.
6. Sorry, when Alex Trebek gets excited....he pees a little.
7. Alex Trebek! Get your nose out his crotch!
8. Every morning, Charlton Heston wakes me up by standing on my chest and licking my nose.
9. Who's a good boy?? Whoooooo's a good boy?!? Alex Trebek is!! Oh, yes he isssy is!!
10. I think it's kinda gross that Charlton Heston feels the need lick himself clean while sitting on my lap.
11. Alex Trebek has GOT to stop nosing threw the garbage when I'm at work.

AND last, but not least

12. While it is slightly cute, I do wish Charlton Heston would stop killing birds and mice and leaving them as gifts on my bed.

Feel free to add to the list...the possibilities are endless.

I must sleep now...I need to prepare myself for the inevitable battles with middle school children tomorrow. They're merciless.
