I Yi Yi Yi Like Jews Very Much

Getting campy this past weekend was all that I hoped it would be...complete with sequined go-go boots, Carmen Miranda tutti-frutti hats and neighbors that, from the look of their dogs, were surely involved in a white supremacy group. Hey, wait a mintue...that's not very kitschy at all...

But seriously, why else would you need to bring your armada of Rottweilers, German Shepards and Pit Bulls to a state park full of boy scouts, cheesy suburban families and retirees? Rabid ground squirrel protection? I don't think so...Helter Skelter, I tell ya...

Our neighborly klan did provide SOME form of entertainment when one of their hell-dogs broke free of his leash attached to a zip line and crazily headed off into pitch-black night. Next thing we heard was "Geech*, NO!" followed by some barking and, in the distance, the splashes of sweet freedom. The actual view of this debacle was left to our imaginations...seeing that it was dark and all...which for some reason, made it THAT much funnier...

There were also plenty of avocados to be eaten and a couple of cut-throat games of Travel Scrabble. Oh yeah...and sunshine, growing bonds of friendship, yada, yada, yada....

I had such a great time that I couldn't bring myself to let it go...today I found myself outside yet once again drinking beer before 5. I've decided that on 75 degree spring days, beer o'clock is allowed to be pushed back a couple, um...I mean a few, hours.

And for all you people who couldn't go camping due to "responsibilities" and living hundreds of miles away in "different states"...aren't you guys so important with your "jobs" and "graduate studies"? See what you missed? For reals, though...you all were missed, but we placed you there in spirit. Hopefully next year...

*I'm not making this part up. We were really convinced that they were calling one of the dogs Geech the whole time.
