I have just discovered...some rock stars are more pompous than others...
I have lots o' fun rants running through my head today...where should I start? Ok. How about here:
Morrissey...oh Morrissey...why did ye cancel thy show for this evening? You don't know? Oh wait...I can tell you. Because you're an illogical self-righteous limey...damnit! I'm so distraught right now because I found out that Mr. Stephen Patrick cancelled his tour dates in Texas because he refuses to play in a state that supports Bush. Rock on, political brother...but just think about what you're doing for a second. Does it really make any sense? So...I've spent many years being a Morrissey/Smiths fan...I think just about 13 or so. This pissed me off so much that I'm having a really hard time deciding whether I should support him with my loyalty any longer. I guess his smug attitude doesn't come off as well in person as it does in his music.
More illogicalness --> Two bumper stickers I've seen in the past three days: 1. "If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you can read this in English, thank a soldier." 2. "If Mary had been pro-choice, we wouldn't have Christmas"
These stickers bothered me so much, that I personally wanted to stop these people and have them explain the logic to me.
In reference to the first one: Are you implying that English is a superior language to the thousands of other languages in the world? And would I really care what language I spoke if it were my native language? So, no...I won't thank a soldier for my language...other things, maybe...but not because I speak English.
As for the second one...do I even need to start? So...this sticker is saying "Mary totally would've aborted Jesus if she had the choice...and then where would we be? No presents for Billy this December!" Does the Bible say that somewhere? Oh...it must be somewhere towards the back.
To both of these people: You are dumb.
Something that made me laugh: The management at work posted a sign recently describing the companies sexual harassment policies. Yes, yes...I know this is serious...but this was just too fun. One of my fellow employees decided to modify the title of the bulletin with some saucy punctuation...the product was as follows: "SEXUAL HARASSMENT IS ILLEGAL?!?". It may not be as funny here, but seeing a very serious statement in big bold red letters being mocked made me crack up.
On the up side, this may free up time to possibly hang out with...yes...the bartender. I keep forgetting that Halloween is on Sunday...mostly because I just don't care. I wish I would get excited about this holiday, but as an adult, it just seems to be a good excuse to dress slutty and hit on/sleep with people that you'd normally be more cautious around...and then using the "well, I just wasn't myself last night...I mean, it was Halloween" bit to explain it the next day.
Again! Does the cynicism ever stop? Not around here!

i hope the cynicism never stops! sheesh!
as for Mary and being pro-choice...um, as I recall, Mary chose to keep her baby, hence she WAS pro-choice.
you ought to keep a stash of lefty bumperstickers in your glovebox so when you see an idiot, follow them, wait til they leave their car and then put the good bumpersticker OVER their stupid one. it's something I've been thinking of doing for a while now.

That bumper sticker....Dear, God.
Yes, T. is right. Mary was pro-choice. She didn't have a band of fanatics trying to guilt her into giving up her golden shower surprise (not THAT kind of golden shower but the Greek myth that Danae was visited by a shower of gold that loved and therefore impregnated her).
And yes, T. has a very good notion about the bumper sticker thing...hehehehehe. Just don't get caught because some lawyer will make it sound like destruction of property.
If I had a dollar for every stupid person out there I'd be Bill Gates rich.

O.k...call me obsessed or just bored but I Googled most of your Mary bumper sticker and I found 5 sites all against it. Apparently everyone else thinks its as inane as we do. Yes Virginia, there are intelligent people out there.
I also found a "Childfree Community" on Livejournal. Basically people were recanting bratty kid experiences in stores and posting matri/patricide accounts from around the globe. It's nice that people have a support group like that but I can't help but feel it is just bitchery. I will stop taking up your journal space now.

Oh abberatia, I know what the bumper sticker meant, but what I was trying to say was does it really matter if the whole country spoke German? English isn't a superior language in itself. If the entire country spoke German or Japanese or anything...everybody would be saying that that language is the best and everybody else in the world should know it...I don't know if it's our language that led the USA conquer the world.
And to the Booklahver...I'm glad that we're not the only ones...I don't know about children hating forums...yeah, kids can be annoying...but recounting tales of having them killed? But, that's what these spaces on the interweb are for...as much bitchery as one sees fit! Oh...and my journal space is for you to take up anytime...
